This course was written by a teacher and curriculum author. It was not assembled automatically.
The French has been checked for accuracy, and the English and Urdu meanings were written by hand rather than machine translated.
Care has been taken, but human error is always possible in a course of 45 lessons, and any confirmed error will be corrected.
Machine translations can be imperfect
The built-in English and Urdu meanings were written and checked by a person, so they can be trusted.
Meanings in any other language are produced automatically by machine translation. They are usually helpful, but they can be clumsy or wrong, especially with short phrases, word order and polite forms.
Always treat the English line as the source of truth. If a translated line and the English line disagree, the English line is the one to follow.
The French voice is synthetic
Spoken French on this site comes from your browser's built-in speech engine. It is a synthetic voice, not a human model.
It is a useful guide to rhythm, word shape and repetition, but it does not sound exactly like a French speaker.
Use it often, and whenever you can, listen to real French audio as well: films, radio, songs, or a teacher.
Pronunciation spellings are approximations
Every word is shown in English letters and in Urdu letters. These are beginner-friendly approximations, not exact phonetics.
Some French sounds cannot be written honestly in English or Urdu letters. The French u, the French r and the nasal vowels are the clearest examples.
Where this matters, the lessons say so and describe the mouth position instead of giving a spelling that would mislead you. A star marks a spelling that is only close.
Scope of the course
This course covers CEFR levels A0 to A2: the complete A0 → A1 course plus the first three parts of A2 — the passé composé, the imperfect and the simple future.
Topics such as the conditional and the subjunctive are not taught here yet.
A short list at the end of the master checklist shows honestly what a later level would add.
Not a substitute for a teacher or an exam
This course is a study aid. It is not a substitute for a qualified teacher, an accredited course or a recognised exam.
A teacher can correct your accent, answer unusual questions and adapt to you in a way a website cannot.
If you need a certificate for study, work or immigration, you will need an official examination at an accredited centre.
