- What is the partitive article, and when do you use it? du (m), de la (f), de l' (vowel), des (plural) — for an unspecified quantity of food or drink.
- Complete: Je mange ___ pain. Je mange du pain.
- Complete: Elle boit ___ eau. Elle boit de l'eau.
- Complete: Nous achetons ___ pommes. Nous achetons des pommes.
- What happens to du / de la / des after a quantity word? They become 'de': un kilo de tomates, beaucoup de pain.
- How do you ask 'How much is this shirt?' Combien coûte cette chemise ?
- How do you tell the time for 3:15, 3:30 and 3:45? trois heures et quart, trois heures et demie, quatre heures moins le quart
- How do you write the date '14 July'? le 14 juillet (le quatorze juillet)
- Choose the right demonstrative: ___ livre, ___ maison, ___ amis. ce livre, cette maison, ces amis

- How do you pronounce 'un pain'? 'un pan' — 'ain' is a nasal sound.
- How do you pronounce 'du fromage'? 'dü fro-mazh' — the final e is silent and the g is soft.
- How do you pronounce 'beaucoup'? 'bo-koo' — the p is silent.
- How do you pronounce 'vingt'? 'van' — the g and the t are silent.
- How do you pronounce 'combien'? 'kon-byan' — 'ien' is nasal.
- How do you pronounce 'trois heures et quart'? 'trwa-zur eh kar' — liaison links trois and heures.
